Day Off

Hey guys! TGIF! So glad that I took the day off to do absolutely nothing. I needed time to be at home and just relax. I'm always so busy with work, the gym, house stuff, school. It's never ending and I always end up in bed way past than I should. I went to bed early last night around 9:30 and woke up at 1 am for an hour just looking through Instagram then fell back to sleep.

I've been catching up on House of Cards lately which by the way is PHENOMENAL! I'm still on the first season so don't ruin it for me. I found someone at work who watches it too and that is all we have been talking about. Glad I have something new to watch because I kept resorting to Breaking Bad every time I'd get disappointed in a new show because Breaking Bad is the best show ever created. EVER.

Yesterday I had my yearly performance review and it was so much better than last year. Last year was horrible. I was not in a good position last year and the person who I worked with made it a struggle to go to work every day. Things were said, tears were shed, and just the overall year was shitty. The other person left so I didn't have to work with them anymore and my work improved. Imagine that! My reviews have never been bad, I've always exceeded or beyond. I couldn't let that one person ruin my work so I made a complaint to HR. I don't like complaining because it causes tension between coworkers but I didn't care. I could no longer have this person ruin my day and my work performance. Anyway, so I'm glad that it's a new year and I have a new position. My managers have faith in my work with my new role and have seen great improvement already in the short amount of time I've been there.

Well, I should probably get back to House of Cards because it's sucking me back in. I should probably have lunch too.

Have a great weekend!

What I Wore Wednesday

Top: Old Navy
Faux Fur Vest: H&M
Jeans: Nordstrom
Heels: LC Lauren Conrad via Poshmark

I've been wanting to do one of these for a while. I love when I have time that I can dress up. Now that the weather is warming up, I can play around with my wardrobe a little. I've been leaning towards more of the blush and pink colors lately and I don't know why. They're just soft colors and are great for the winter/spring transition.

Weekend Recap

Hey guys! I'm a little late with my Weekend Recap but it's better late than never. Been a bit busy to get on the computer and write a post. I need to get better about it and schedule time for my writing. Anywho...

Friday night Juan and I had plans to go to Top Golf since it's about two minutes from our house but the wait was ridiculous as it was Friday night and everyone and their moms were there. We ended up coming home and playing the new Donkey Kong on the Wii U. We both laughed at my lack of coordination because I seriously suck at that game.

Saturday I went to my first kettlebell workshop at my gym. I'd been wanting to go for a long time and they don't hold one very often so the last few times they held it, I had class on the weekend. I finally went and had a great time. I learned new moves and how to properly handle the kettlebell. My legs and arms are still sore from the movements.

After the workshop, I had an afternoon at the spa. I treated myself to a massage and facial. It was definitely needed after the workout Saturday morning. The lady who did my facial was really helpful in letting me know what products I should be using on my face. I have sensitive skin so I can't use most products but the Murad products seem to be working. I walked out purchasing the Murad Acne Toner and the Murad Acne Face Mask. Both of which she used on me. I already use the Murad Acne Cleanser.

Saturday night Juan and I were all over town trying to find somewhere to eat for dinner. Most places were packed and the wait was over an hour. We ended up at a small burger joint in Frisco.

On Sunday I hosted a Stella & Dot trunk show at my house with our amazing Stella & Dot stylist, Bella. I had a few people attend and it was fun! Glad my friends got to see the gorgeous jewelry I've been eyeing lately.

It was a great and relaxing weekend! Glad I got to spend time with Juan and my girlies!

Sunday Social

Can't believe the weekend is almost over. Wah wah! But...you know what today is!! It's Sunday Social & I'm linking up with  Neely and Ashley for some fun!

Sunday Social

1. Favorite breakfast food.
Definitely a big Mexican breakfast with breakfast tacos, refried beans, chilaquiles. Mmmm. I miss my moms big breakfasts.

2. Best way to spend a free day.
First off, I wouldn't tell anyone that I had a "free day". I enjoy being alone on my free days doing absolutely nothing. Not having to worry about house chores,  I'd grab lunch at my favorite spot, catch up on my favorite blogs, and watch hours and hours of TV.

3. Airline ticket to anywhere in the world….where would you go and why?
Ireland. I've always had a dream of visiting Europe, especially Ireland. I'm not sure why but the photos I've seen are breathtaking and the scenery looks beautiful. The movie 'P.S. I Love You' also could have something to do with it. Mmmm..Gerard Butler.

4. You can only leave the house with one thing…what is it?
Does my dog count? Oh, I'd take him with me everywhere if I could.

5. How do you take your coffee?
Medium roast. Three Splendas. Three Creams. I like coffee with my sugar.

Stella & Dot Newbie

A couple weeks ago I went to my first Stella & Dot trunk show that Bella hosted. I'd never been to one nor seen any of their jewelry in person. I've seen the jewelry worn on fashion bloggers, etc but never really knew the what it was all about.

I looked through the Spring catalog multiple times trying to figure out what I wanted from my wishlist. My wishlist seems to grow every day because I think I always need a new piece. Every piece is so beautiful and chic and I've also found a lot of pieces to be versatile.

I got my package within three days which was awesome and I was able to wear it before Valentine's Day. Check out how cute the boxes and packaging are. I couldn't throw the boxes away because they're too adorable.

How gorgeous are the pieces I got? I wear my bracelets every day and they go with everything. I've even added the gold ones on my wishlist. The charm necklace has become a favorite as well and I'm hoping to add more charms to it and give some ideas to friends and family on what to get me for my birthday or Christmas or just whenever ;-) The scarf? Oh. My. God. I love it!! I mean, look at it. The print, the colors, oh and it feels amazing. I'm obsessed.

Seriously, go check out Bella's Stella & Dot page and create a wishlist or better yet, host a trunk show and get your girlies to join you! I'm actually hosting one this weekend with friends and family. Love anytime I can spend with the girls, shopping & sipping on some adult beverages! Holla!

Boy Behind the Blog

I'm linking up with Mal and Stephanie today for Boy Behind the Blog. I thought it'd be fun for you all to get to know the boy who has my heart.

Little background on us and him. We've been together for 7 years. Live together with our dog Rico. He's from Colombia. He's 27 going on 65. He's a tech geek. We're best friends.

I just asked the questions and typed up his answers, word for word.

1. If you could live anywhere, where would you live?
Brazil.

2. Sand or snow?
Sand. Snow is cold and shitty.

3. What Winter Olympic sport would you rock at?
Curling. I would suck at skating or skiing.

4. You're cooking a romantic dinner- what is your go-to dish?
Tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwich. Doesn't get more romantic than that.

5. Fill in the blank: This year, I gave Melanie a ____________________ for Valentine's Day?
Sony headphones.

Well, that wasn't too bad.

Juan is a practical gift giver. I usually get something useful like windshield wipers or headphones. Hey! I'll take what I can get!

Weekend Recap

Happy President's Day! I'm jealous if you had the day off and got to sleep in and relax for an extra day. Hope your weekend was great! My weekend was a little whirlwind and fun. Ha! That's probably the best I can describe it.

I'll start with Thursday night. My girl Bella hosted an Anti-Valentine's Day Bash at Mockingbird Station in Dallas. It was so much fun and I'm so glad I went. I took a girlfriend with me and we both had a blast. Here are a few photos from the night. They had live music, photo booth, food, drinks, glitter tattoos, and Mr. Hottie aka Cupid.

Friday was of course Valentine's Day. I probably over indulged in sweets at work and it was my boss' last day at work so we celebrated him with a cake. I may or may not have had a piece. Okay, I did. Juan and I had planned to just grab dinner at my favorite place, Zoe's Kitchen and catch a movie. Nothing fancy. I just wanted to spend time with him. We ended up watching About Last Night with Keven Hart. It was pretty funny but I thought it got boring an hour in. Every scene was about sex and it ended up being a love story. So predictable. I enjoyed our time together, as I always do.

We don't really exchange gifts for Valentine's Day but I found Datevitation.com and I knew I had to get him something. You can create your own coupon date book.
Here's just a glimpse of what Juan's looked like. He's already wanting to use it! "Calm down bro!"
The one on the right says "win an argument. You're right. I'm wrong. Case closed."
He got me some headphones I've been wanting since the earbuds he gave me don't fit in my ear. I needed ones that go over the ear. Small ear problems.

Saturday I had lunch with a friend and her 5 year old daughter. It was good times. He daughter is so funny so it made for great conversation. And it was good catching up with her. I also treated myself to a white chocolate covered strawberry since I was still in the Valentine's Day mood.
Doesn't it look delicious and pretty? It was, trust me!

I went home and cleaned out my closet to get rid of crap I don't need anymore. The weather called for it too since it got warm this weekend and I needed to do some Spring cleaning.

My friend invited me over for some girl time that night and of course I couldn't say no. I love time with my girls. So I went over with food and we watched movies and chatted. I ended up leaving (or trying to leave) around midnight and when I went out to get in my car...MY CAR WAS GONE! I panicked and ran back to her place and didn't know what to do. I didn't want to call Juan or my parents because they'd probably be mad but my only resort was to call Juan. My parents were out of town and I didn't want them to be mad or worried. Yes, I'm 26 years old and my parents still get mad at me and worry. I called 911 and they told me my car had been towed because I was parked in reserved parking. I was so pissed at myself. Why didn't I check? Why was I in such a hurry? Juan ended up picking me up and we picked up my car. It costs me $300 to get it out. KILL ME! FACK! Oh well, I have to pay the price for my stupidity and I promise that will not be happening again.

Sunday was spent cleaning my house and grocery shopping with Juan. We had a late lunch at Chuy's and the food was so good! Juan and I laughed about my car being towed the night before and his hatred for the towing companies. He has stories so I could understand. And like every Sunday, I meal prepped and got ready for the week.

Happy Monday y'all! Stay positive and have a great week!

Sunday Social

Hey guys!! Happy Sunday Funday! Linking up with Neely and Ashley today for Sunday Social.

Sunday Social

1. What are your favorite things to do on a lazy day?
Stay in pajamas. Cuddle up on the couch with Rico and a cup of tea or coffee watching Breaking Bad, Intervention, or any crime TV show. I love those lazy days!

2. What is your TV guilty pleasure?
Keeping up with the Kardashians. I never understand why people hate them so much. I love them! I think it takes a lot to film almost every aspect of your life and have the whole world watching them. I really enjoy the show and their family dynamics.

3. What is your favorite road trip music?
Country and Backstreet Boys. It reminds me of road trips I used to take with my family and I enjoy it now as an adult.

4. What are your favorite magazines or books to read by the pool or laying around?
I enjoy reading autobiographies, memoirs, crime books, and beauty magazines such as Glamour or Lucky.

5. What is your favorite snack?
Carrots and hummus, bacon wrapped asparagus, candied pecans. I try not to snack much but those are my favorites.

Have a lovely Sunday, y'all!

Confessions: Shoe Queen?

It's no secret that I love shoes, hence the name of this blog. Like really, really love shoes, heels preferably. They speak so much about a woman. They don't discriminate the way clothes does. They either fit you or they don't. Hell, I'm even trying to open my own shoe store.

some of my babies displayed pretty in my closet

Ever since I went back to school full time last semester, I have not worn a single pair of heels. *GASP*

I have this closet room full of gorgeous heels, some of them brand spanking new that have never been worn. I just found it extremely hard to wear heels during school since I'd be walking all over campus and since I take night classes I didn't want to be running around in heels in the dark. That could be dangerous! (Thinking about it now, I could probably fight off someone with a pair of heels I have)

People at work, friends, etc still refer to me as the "Shoe Queen". I love that name but lately I feel like I'm a fake! I know it sounds so silly but I feel like I'm not living up to that name anymore. I still love my heels. I wish to wear them more often but with this nasty Texas weather I never know whether to wear heels or snow boots and lately it's been boots. Ew.

And the last few months I find myself leaning more towards the flats section of the department store. If you know me or you don't, I don't do flats besides tennis shoes and riding boots. Maybe I'm just learning to love both flats and heels and this is just a phase. Who knows? I can love both, right?

I'm really gonna work on wearing my heels again. They make me feel confident and sexy. Yikes, what if I end up looking like a newborn baby giraffe trying to find it's balance.

Aww, I probably wouldn't be that cute though.

Weekend Recap

Bring it on, Monday! Hope you all had a great weekend!

Here's what happened this weekend, some eventful and some not so much.

Friday - I was sent home early from work because the weather was getting worse and my boss already knew what happened to me the day before. As soon as I got home I took a nap and it was lovely which reminds me I should take more naps. I woke up when Juan got home from work and we grabbed dinner at my favorite place, Zoe's Kitchen and then rented Prisoners from RedBox. Prisoners stars Hugh Jackman and Jake Gyllenhaal and it's a very suspenseful film. I had to turn the lights in the middle of the movie because I got scared. LOL I'm not really a thriller movie type of gal!

Saturday - I went to a nutrition workshop at my gym which was very informative and helpful.

Later on in the afternoon, I went to Bella's Stella & Dot Trunk Show. I had never been to one before and the jewelry is so gorgeous! I bought a few pieces of jewelry and I can't wait to receive them!

After the trunk show, Bella and I headed to the ShopMieux 1st Birthday Celebration. It was a blast! They offered drinks, cupcakes and had a super cute photo booth. Not to mention the people there were so nice. The store is so cute and they offer so many brands at a great price.

Sunday - As usual, I got up early for my weekly grocery trip and meal prepped my little heart away. I love meal prepping, it makes me feel like I have my shit together. I also was able to get my new iPhone after my other one to a dump in the toilet. YAY! I finally feel connected!

So purdy! Love!
