My Summer Must Haves

I don't know about you, but summer is my favorite season. It may be because my birthday falls right in the middle of it but it really is and has been my favorite season. I love spending summer nights with my friends and family, drinking cocktails at the pool, beach vacations, vacations in general, toobing down the Comal River, summer break from classes, etc. Just the whole experience of it.

I thought I'd share some of my summer must haves.

1. Basic black flip flops. I love my Havainanas. I actually have them in most of the colors but my black ones get the most use. They go with everything, they're comfortable, and you can wear them to dinner or the beach.

2. Denim Cut-off shorts. Oh man, have I waited for the season to take out all my shorts. Do you have a pair of old jeans? Cut them up and show off those legs!

3. True Blue Spa Malibu Body Scrub. Whether you tan outside or spray tan, you should rub down with this amazing body scrub. I used to spray tan and would use this all the time, I don't spray anymore but I still use it. Makes my legs and arms silky smooth and it also smells amazing.

4. True Blue Spa Malibu Waves Spray. I have super straight hair and this waves spray gives it a nice wavy texture as if I just got off the beach. I love spraying it when my hair is damp and it saves it from getting damaged from the heat of my flat iron, curling wand, or blow dryer.

5. True Blue Spa Malibu Glow Body Shine. Y'all. This stuff is amazing. This is the whole reason I even stopped spray tanning. I hated the orange-y color it gave me and the smell was horrible. Plus, it was costing me an arm and a leg. I bought this and quickly cancelled my membership. It gives me that perfect glow I want, just a little color so I'm not looking ghostly white. Even if you're already tan, it gives the perfect shimmer. I rub this all over when I'm wearing shorts, dresses, and tanks.

6. Urban Decay Illuminating BB Cream. Well, this stuff recently came out but I'm a sucker for trying beauty balms and bronzers. I use the regular UD beauty balm daily and I love it. I'll be purchasing this one so I won't have to be using the regular BB and a bronzer together. Just gives you a nice glow and radiant look.  It also has SPF 20...gotta protect this freckles.

7. Neon colored polish. What other colors yell "SUMMER"? Definitely a 'Shocking Pink', which is what I currently have on my nails. Grab a neon color and head to the nail salon.

8. Aviator Sunglasses. Why you wouldn't have these already is beyond me? They're classic and they go with everything. I take mine everywhere! I'm currently looking for the mirrored ones...those are so hot right now!

Well, there you have it dolls. These will be my summer staples this season and I'm absolutely excited to be heading into summer!

What are some of your must haves for the summer?

Weekend Recap

Hey guys! I hope you all enjoyed your weekend whether it was super fun or a relaxing one.

For once, this weekend didn't feel so jam packed with full of things to do or planned. It was quite relaxing for some reason.

Friday night was spent cleaning my house from top to bottom. As soon as I stepped in my house I got to cleaning because I know if I sit down, I won't want to get back up to get to cleaning. I had finally finished by 10pm and afterward I headed to my parents house to pick up their truck to use since I had to work Saturday. My car is still without A/C and getting fixed. Ughhh! It sucks!

I worked Saturday morning for a few hours which was awesome because no one was in the office and I was able to get some work done. I went straight to my parents house after I got off and we had lunch together and did some shopping. Nothing too exciting! It was nice getting to spend time with them.

Juan and I were invited to Lee Harvey's bar in Dallas Saturday night so we packed up the dogs and headed out. I didn't want to be stuck in the house so I decided to go. We were out for just a couple of hours because it is such a hassle with the dogs. Sundays are the days you can let the dogs off the leash, we just went on the wrong night. LOL It's cool though because the pups got lots of lovin' from everyone.

Oh my goodness...Sunday was crazy busy. I didn't sit down until 10pm.

I got up and headed to my parents house because I had promised my mom I would help her clean out her house with all her junk stuff she didn't need and had to get rid of. We tackled one room in the house that used to be mine when I lived there. It turned into the "workout" room and my brothers office/study room. When I had walked in that morning, that room was so "OMG! Look at the fkn mess!" You couldn't even see the floor. I should've taken a pic but I just wanted to be done ASAP. My poor brother, I don't even know how he studies in there.

So we cleaned it out, put stuff they didn't need on Craigslist, organized the junk stuff, and made it all nice and purdy.

My parents were very grateful because they really needed my help in getting the room cleaned. Next project is the kitchen. Boy, that's gonna be another mess! Can't wait for that!

Next weekend is Memorial Day weekend and I'm stoked!!! We're floating the river and I get to see my cousins!!! AHHH!!!! Please, Friday, get here soon!!

How was your weekend?

Dad's Birthday + Mother's Day

Hey guys! I've been such a slacker lately but seriously, I'm so frickin busy every night. I'm finding it harder and harder to get on here for an update. I'm thinking of changing my workout times to the mornings again because I just hate it being right in the middle of my evenings. We'll see though...maybe during the summer when it gets blazing hot. It'll be cooler in the morning.

So this weekend was cray cray busy...per my usual.

Friday night, Bella and I had dinner at Kenny's Smokehouse in Plano. It was our first time there and the food was pretty yummy. I wouldn't say it was the best BBQ but it was up there with a couple of my favs. I had smoked sliced brisket and a salad with avocado vinaigrette. Oh it was so good!

Also, Friday night my A/C went out on my car. Aye! I'm hoping it can be an easy and inexpensive fix because the summer is coming and the heat is brutal in Texas. A/C is a must in every car.

Saturday was my dad's birthday so I treated him to a nice shave at The Art of Shaving. I highly recommend the guys getting it done. It's a cool experience. My dad loved it! It's like a dude pampering. He totally deserved it too.

We had lunch at Grand Luxe Cafe at the Galleria Mall. We had never been so it was a great experience for us all. It was awesome catching up with my family and it just being us 4. I ate light so I could enjoy dessert. I didn't take a picture of my chocolate chip pecan cookie because it was gone in 2.3 seconds but here is what my brother and parents got, beignets.

I had a baby shower later that day and I'm sad I didn't take any photos. It was fun to catch up with an old friend and I'm so excited for her to be welcoming a baby boy! I went crazy and bought almost every cute boy outfit I could find. I couldn't help myself, I love baby stuff.

My BFF Jeanette and I decided we needed some A/C since the baby shower was outside and my cars A/C was kaput so we went to Mattito's in Frisco and enjoyed a Rumba Rita. Dang, those things are strong and hit you hard. They only limit 2 per person...go figure!

I was exhausted from the days festivities so I went to my parents house to take a nap and Juan came to pick me up later that night. We headed to one of his friends birthday parties in Dallas at the Foundry. It was fun and I'm glad I went because I was already tired. I had a Kentucky Lemonade and a shot of something.

Ahh so Sunday was Mother's Day and I'm so super sad I didn't get to spend a lot of time with my mama. I didn't have my car since my dad was checking it out and I can't really drive Juan's because it's manual and well, I don't know how to drive it. I wanted to do something special for her but it just didn't happen. We did end up going over for a bit to visit her, I got her some flowers and gifts. No worries though, my dad, brother, and I are planning something super special for her this week...it's a surprise and she has no idea! I just wish we had planned the day better because she deserves it. I hope I can make it up to her!

Hope you all had a good weekend and are having a great week! Happy Humpday!

Is this really worth it?

So if you've followed me or know me, you know I'm doing a challenge with my gym. It's basically a nutrition and training challenge for six weeks. This is the fourth week we are in right now and it is getting harder and harder for me to focus on the nutrition aspect. I love food. I'm trying my hardest to think of food as fuel and not for enjoyment. You basically have to take out all feelings when eating compliant foods and fitting your food into your macros. It's hard!

I've asked myself a couple times in the last four weeks, is this really worth it?

The answer: yes.

It's absolutely worth it. I've been on this clean eating journey for two years and it has changed my life. My energy levels have increased. My mood has changed. My gastrointestinal issues have gone away. My skin has cleared up a bit. Overall, I just feel better about myself.

I think it's just harder in this challenge because you have to eliminate alcohol and sugar if you want the best results. What is the most challenging for me is most of my friends are out on the patios in this beautiful spring weather drinking margaritas, going to ball games and having a beer, having pizza nights in, etc. These are all things I want to participate in and it makes me so jealous that I can't. I don't know what the issue is because even when I'm not doing the challenge, I don't do those things often. It's just when you KNOW you can't have something, you're gonna want it more. This challenge is just as much mental as it is physical.

I'm not gonna lie, I have indulged in pizza and frozen yogurt while doing this challenge but only once. I enjoyed it so much but then the next day I felt not only guilty but so bloated. That enjoyment was so temporary.

At the same time, I'm looking forward to when this challenge is over and I can have that ice cold beer while toobing at the river in two weeks. It's probably the only thing that is keeping me sane right now.

Ahhh..goodnight. I'll be dreaming of frozen margaritas and pizookies while wearing my bikini. #dreaming

Weekend Recap+more

Linking up with Bella & Lisa for weekend recap :)

Weekend Recap

Holy balls, it's been a hot minute. Guys, things have been hectic around here lately. Lots of changes.

First off, J's brother moved in with us and it has been quite the adjustment. I mean, I have to pick up after myself and be dressed at all times. That shit is hard. It's cool though, it's kind of nice having someone else here. He also brought his pup with him so now Rico has a playmate.

Juan's birthday was last week and we celebrated with cake and TopGolf. We had a great time alone together before the move.

I've been working my ass off at the gym, work, home...trying to get things in order. I'm also trying to get to bed at a decent time. Thanks to my friend, Melatonin. That shit works. Try it.

So this weekend was pretty chill but busy.

Friday was spent watching the Spurs vs. Mavs game. Hey, it's playoffs season so I need to watch ALL the games. My poor Spurs lost and I went to bed sad.

Saturday I had to wake up early and head to the gym. Not for a training session but for weigh-in and measurements for the challenge that I'm in. They haven't given me my results yet but I need to know. They also held a Q&A session for those in the challenge and talked about nutrition, etc. Those sessions are always so helpful because you get feedback from everyone.

Saturday afternoon was WAY too beautiful to be stuck inside so we packed the dogs in the truck and went to play volleyball at a local park. I hadn't played in AGES (middle school) and I thought I had forgot how to play. It all came back to me and I was able to score 3 times. Awesome!

J and I also went up to Home Depot to check out some flowers. I really want to start growing some sort of plant in my yard, but something low maintenance. I definitely want a rose bush so that is going behind my house. Any ideas?

We ended our night with dinner at Three Stacks in Frisco. I had a delicious kale salad.

I had breakfast with my mom at our favorite little bistro and it was nice spending time with her. After breakfast, we headed to Francesca's where they were hosting a We heart Mother's Event. We put our name in the drawing and shopped around a bit. They told us to come back at 11am when they announce the winner. When we went back to the shop for the announcement, they called my name! I was soooooo excited!! I never win anything!! I got a basket that consisted of a leopard top, floral scarf, earrings, necklace, thong underwear, candle, sunglasses case, and a journal. I left a very happy camper.

My company also had our annual picnic at the baseball stadium so J and I went for a couple of hours. The sun was brutal and we were already burnt from the day before at volleyball so we left to watch the Spurs vs. Mavs game. My Spurs won so I was able to sleep peacefully! Haha!

And because I can't get enough of these two! So precious!

Well, that was way too much for such a late post. I'll be more on top of my game this week.

xoxo
